Spread the love

Designing a hotel lobby or guest room is nothing like it was yesteryear. These days, travellers are much more sophisticated and have higher expectations when they stay in a hotel. As such, it’s important for designers to keep a few things in mind when creating a lobby or guest room that patrons feel comfortable staying in.

Technology Support

Sophisticated travellers need and expect some level of technology support when they visit hotels. And while electrical outlets are obviously necessary to help patrons plug in their devices, a hotel should offer a lot more in the form of more savvy ways to charge phones and tablets, as well as digital controls to easily adjust the temperature or lighting in the room.

Smart Use of Colour

Both lobbies and hotel rooms should make good use of colours and textures in order to bring out the best in a space. Updated guest rooms shouldn’t depend solely on neutrals, but should also have a pop of colour and texture infused in order to make them more visually appealing and interesting.

Versatile Lobby

The first thing that people will see and notice when they walk into a hotel is the lobby. You only have a few short seconds to make a positive first impression, so make them count. And the lobby of the hotel is a great way to do that.

A hotel lobby should grab people’s attention with its sharp design, but it should also feel welcoming and comfortable. Not only that, but it should feature versatile design, too. In order to appeal to all different types of travellers and visitors, offering a combination of different types of areas is important. For instance, offer both private and social areas, each with different seating options to help guests feel like there’s a place for them.
